In all our early days in school, we were asked to make mistakes because that’s how we would learn. Once we are grown up, that is never expected of us but looks like Times Now has made a grave mistake and we hope they learn from it.
The channel has been called out several times for the kind of reportage they make on certain issues. This time around, it was not the reportage but a factual and mathematical error that has caught the attention of the viewers. In their broadcast related to the recent dispute with China, the channel made a mathematical error while showing the results of a survey they had done.
The show had asked a question to their viewers as a part of their survey. The question was ‘Do you think India has taken suitable steps to give China a befitting reply?’ In the poll, people had two options to chose from – yes or no. While 60.2 percent of the people chose no, 39.8 percent said yes. However, while projecting the same on the pie chart, it seems that someone had switched the numbers. The 39.8 percent had a larger chunk than 60.2 percent.
Even as the channel deleted the tweet and corrected it in the other tweet, the netizens weren’t eager to forget it. Within moments, Times Now pie chart trended on Twitter as some users trolled the channel hilariously.
Correction: Error in the graphical representation of survey data is sincerely regretted. The tweets have been withdrawn and graphic corrected. pic.twitter.com/sg3qC87QBw
