Bengaluru Now Has 440 Containment Zones, 14 Zones Have More Than 5 COVID-19 Cases

The number of coronavirus containment zones in the city of Bengaluru has reached 440. The containment zones have steeply rose in the past week.

On the daily Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike bulletin of June 22nd, the municipal body confirmed that there are 440 containment zones in the city. The city has reported 1,398 confirmed cases of COVID-19 out of which 919 are active currently. The highest number of cases from a containment zone is 67 from the ward of Padarayanapura. These cases are spread over four containment zones in the area.

The area of Shivaji Nagara has two containment zones and has reported 46 confirmed cases. The area of Hongasandra has 11 containment zones out of which one of them has reported 36 cases. Visveshwara Puram has a total of 10 containment zones where two of them have reported 27 cases and 8 cases respectively.

The SK Garden area which has been sealed down now has 8 containment zones. One zone has amounted to over 16 cases so far. Mangammanapalya also has two containment zones with reporting over 15 cases. The area of Hagadur has two containment zones out of which two cases are reported. There are more than five cases in Agrahara Dasarahalli while Sampangi Rama Nagara has six cases.

44 Zone Termed Normal

In the bulletin, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike also mentioned that out of the 440 containment zone, the status of 8 has been extended while the 44 containment zone’s status was termed normal. The bulletin also indicates that most of the containment areas in the city have only one reported case.

As per the guidelines, the street where a person is found positive is marked as a containment zones. If its an apartment, the floor below and above the infected person’s residence is marked as containment zone. Out of all the containment zones, 424 containment zones in the city are streets where a positive person was found. 43 containment zones are apartment complexes.

The total number of cases in India has reached 4,41,070 out of which 1,78,714. 2,48,286 patients have recovered successfully in India. Karnataka has reported 9170 cases so far. Over 5,730 patients have recovered successfully while 3,523 cases are still active. The death toll has reached 142.
