Kokkare Bellur
Kokkare Bellur is not another reserved Bird sanctuary and that’s the beauty of it. It is spread in a small village near Maddur where one can see storks and pelicans co-exist on trees, perfectly in harmony with the villagers. This place is famous for painted storks (Kokkare in Kannada) and so is the name ‘Kokkare Bellur.’
The sanctuary has gained an international recognition and without a second thought, Kokkare Bellur is a must-visit for bird lovers and nature enthusiasts. Pelicans and their chastity will never fall flat to impress you. This is a place where you find rare and beautiful migratory birds at ease, nested within the limits of the village.
If you ride further for about 8 km from the village then you find a dam where you can see the sight of birds catching fish. It is better if you seek villagers who can help you spot some rare species of birds. While coming back, make time for a lake because it is one of the major attractions here. The serene beauty of lake which is spread in a large area is a treat to eyes. Settle down in the shades of a tree and simply embrace & entwine the moment.
