Not only the Bollywood industry but the whole world is lamenting over Sushant Singh Rajput’s death right now. His tragic death has brought many in a state of shell shock and has flooded his social media accounts with many heartbroken comments and condolences.

Sushant was a leading actor in Bollywood. He started his movie career with Kai Po Che in 2013, but received the extravagant fame through MS Dhoni: The Untold Story in 2016. One of the most alluring reasons why fans loved Sushant Singh Rajput was because his accomplishments stood as an ode to millions of people who hoped to become actors someday.

However, it would be unfair to remember Sushant Singh Rajput as just a talented actor. His understated wisdom, his courage, and his genius are to be celebrated too.

A 2016 video of Singh Rajput talking to IIT Bombay students about his life journey honours his simplicity and how soon he understood that money and recognition will never equal to success.

The actor started his speech by admitting to his stage fright and saying, “‘So, excuse me if I falter. Excuse me, if I don’t make sense. Excuse me, if I get a panic attack right now. But I’ll try my best.”

Rajput started talking about his life as a child. Since he belonged to a middle-class family, he shared how money was a huge differentiator in his life. Early on he was taught how if you could have money and fame, you could be happy.

My family told me I had to become an engineer. Once I am an engineer, I can try the Civil Services Examination and that will be opening the doors for all kinds of happiness,” said Rajput. “Finally, I slogged and got admission in Delhi College of Engineering”.

All these years, I was obsessed with what’s gonna happen. I was constantly swinging from past to future, not living in an actual sense,” said Sushant.

And for the first time, in a long time, I understood the true meaning of success- which was not money plus recognition but ‘now’ plus excitement.”
