Ever since the lockdown was announced in the country, the migrant workers have become the worst-hit community in society. With their livelihood going for a toss, food and shelter have been hard to come by for these individuals.

Hence, with no option left, many decided to return to their native. However, with transportation cut down and many restrictions in place, this was also hard for the migrant workers. Therefore, many of them have been walking several kilometers to reach their home towns. This has led to several mishaps across the country.

Help is necessary for the workers at this point, and hence, a few Bollywood celebs have come forward to offer their hand. Here are seven celebrities who have completely committed themselves to this purpose.

Salman Khan

Salman Khan has been involved in several activities catering to the migrant workers in Mumbai, and across the country. While he directly credited money into the accounts of many daily-wage laborers, Sallu also recently donated ration to the struggling migrant workers.

Sonu Sood

For 350 Karnataka migrant workers stranded in Mumbai, Sonu Sood arranged 10 buses and made sure the people reached their homes. Sonu personally obtained permissions from the respective governments, and also came down to wish the workers on the day of departure. And, the actor continues to help and twitter is in all praise for his efforts.

Rakul Preet Singh

Rakul Preet has taken to the task of sending meals twice a day for 250 families of migrant workers located close to her home in Gurgaon. She said this will continue until the end of the lockdown.

Tamannaah

In association with an NGO called Letsallhelp, Tamannaah has been involved in the procurement of around 50 Tonnes of food for 10000 people. Most of these people are migrant workers residing in Mumbai slums.

Kunal Kapoor

A very popular crowdfunding platform called Ketto.Org has actor Kunal Kapoor as the backbone. Through this portal, the Indian Women’s Hockey Team raised around Rs. 500000 in three days, with the goal to feed at least 1000 migrant workers.

Shabana Azmi

In partnership with a few NGO’s, Shabana Azmi has helped in the procurement of ration, cooked meals, and sanitation products for 10 lakh migrant workers and daily wage workers across 172 districts.

Seema Biswas

Seema Biswas has contributed Rs 2.5 lakh to boost the relief operations being carried out by Assam House, Mumbai. She has also contributed Rs.2.5 lakh to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
