“Why are you all obsessed with glorifying war criminals? These forces have illegally occupied and committed gross human rights violations in Kashmir for 70+ years. And yet the one who picks up the gun to liberate Kashmir is a terrorist to you and these are martyrs? Make it make sense.”

Mahoor Parvez seems to have now deleted her Instagram and other social media profiles. Khaitan & Co, a law firm where Mahoor interned, has now distanced itself from her hateful comments on the Indian Armed forces. In the tweet put out from the official account of Khaitan & Co, they said,

“There has been a tweet related to the recent unfortunate incident in Kashmir. Purportedly by a member of our firm. This is to clarify that the person was a student intern in Oct 2019 & has no connection with the firm anymore (formal or informal) whatsoever.”

On the other hand, support poured in for Mahoor Parvez who claimed her statement to be an act of freedom of expression. The supporters of Mahoor condemned the claimed death threats, rape threats, and sexual abuses, Mahoor has been receiving post her comment on the Indian Army. In her defense, one of her seniors said that Mahoor was seeking accountability of the human rights violation, enforced disappearance, torture, and sexual offenses committed in Kashmir.

Earlier last week, five security personnel were martyred in Handwara as they were trying to rescue civilians who were held captive by the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists. It is being alleged that one of the terrorists was a top Pakistan LeT leader Haider. Meanwhile, few accounts on Twitter hailing from Pakistan celebrated the death of the five army personnel.

The accounts mocked the Handwara incident by terming it as a repeat of the Abhinandan Varthaman incident, where the airforce fighter was captured by the Pakistani Army after the Indian Army hit out at terrorist hubs at Balakot region of Pakistan.
