Arnab Goswami, the editor-in-chief of Republic TV, was attacked by unnamed men while he was returning to his building along with his wife. The incident took place late in the night on Wednesday. Arnab Goswami later put out a video from the twitter handle of Republic TV explaining the incident.
The incident has garnered opinions across political spectrums while many have condemned the attack, few are holding onto their judgments. The video has been viral on the internet.

The incident as it unfolded
As per Goswami, the incident took place around 12:15 am when he was driving back home with his wife. A few meters away from his building, two bikes overtook his car and stopped him. As Goswami recalls, he was attacked by the two men with sticks in an attempt to break his window. Bottles were allegedly thrown at him. After some time, he managed to sneak out of the place and the two men were caught by his security guards.
Incident took place despite Y Security
A few years back, Arnab Goswami was provided with Y category security that includes 11 personnel and 1 or 2 armed commandos. The incident on the editor-in-chief took place despite the security.
Police Case has been filed
The two people who reportedly attacked Goswami has been arrested and an FIR has been registered at the NM Joshi Marg Police Station under section 341 (wrongful restraint) and 504 (intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace).
Arnab Goswami Unhurt during the attack
Both Arnab Goswami and his wife have come out of the incident unhurt. They were reported to be in good health after the incident.
Arnab Blames on Youth Congress
In his video message after the incident, Arnab Goswami accused the Youth Congress of being the perpetrators behind the attack. Although, the police is yet to reveal the identity of the two arrested people.
Arnab Holds Sonia Gandhi Responsible
In the same video message, Arnab went onto say that if anything happens to him, he would hold Sonia Gandhi and her family accountable. Calling her a coward, Arnab blamed her to be the mastermind behind the attack.
The Build-Up to the incident
Incidentally, a few days ago, Arnab Goswami on his broadcast attacked Sonia Gandhi of being silent on the Palghar lynching case and accused her of conspiring against the government.
Youth Congress files complaint against Arnab
Prior to the incident, in the morning, the Youth Congress of Maharashtra filed a complaint against Arnab of spreading communal hate on television. Arnab had called the stranded migrant laborers as ‘actors’ and suggested them to be of a particular religion.

Maharashtra Law and Order questioned
Days after the Palghar lynching and the Bandra Migrant incident, the attack on Arnab has raised questions on the law and order of the State of Maharashtra.
