Karnataka government has proposed to form a new district of Vijayanagara by separating it from the present Ballari district. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa is looking to form the new district by adding six taluks into the capital of historic Vijayanagara Empire.
Karnataka’s 31st district
Taking the state to is 31st district, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had announced on Thursday that he will soon present this proposal before the cabinet for its approval. According to the sources, CM had said that this decision to form a new district came in after public interest and administrative interest was sighted. The new district of Vijayanagara will have six taluks (out of 11 taluks ) craved out of Ballari District.
It is said that Anand Singh who is one of the 17th disqualified MLAs, had met Yediyurappa with his delegation and urged him to create a separate Vijayanagara District by dividing it from Ballari. This will also help Yediyurappa make former Vijayanagara MLA Anand Singh in charge of the newly formed district.
Better administration in the new District
From the proposed idea, five taluks of Ballari will have Kurugodu, Siruguppa, Sandur, and Kudligi as its district, whereas the remaining 6 which includes Hospete, Kampli, Hagaribommanahalli, Kotturu, Hoovina Hadagali, and Harpanahalli will be part of Vijayanagara district, with Hospete as headquarters. If all goes well as planned, Hampi will be a part of the new District.
Ballari being the biggest district in the state with 11 taluks, some taluks were about 200 km away from the present headquarter making it difficult to the farmers, laborers and common people to reach the district headquarter. Having a separate district will also help the region with better administration.
