Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla stadium will get its new name after its former President by next month. Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Tuesday announced that it will rename Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium after India’s former finance minister Arun Jaitely.
Feroz Shah Kotla to get its new name
Arun Jaitely was the President of District Cricket Association (DDCA) from 1999 to 2013. It was under his administration the ground infrastructure was improved and the sitting capacity was increased.
DDCA president Rajat Sharma said, “It was Arun Jaitley’s assistance and support that players like Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Ashish Nehra, Rishabh Pant and many others could make India proud.”
A clarification from the DDCA president: The stadium has been named as Arun Jaitley Stadium. The ground will continue to be called the Feroz Shah Kotla.

Ceremony to be held on September
The renaming ceremony will take place on September 12th and the ground will be called Arun Jaitely ground. However, the stadium will remain to be called as the Feroz Shah Kotla. Additionally, as announced earlier, one of its stands will be named after Team India’s current captain Virat Kohli.
“The renaming of Delhi’s famous cricket venue as Arun Jaitley Stadium will take place on September 12 at a function where a Stand of the ground will be named after India captain Virat Kohli,” DDCA said.
In the meantime, the former Indian opener and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir has written a letter to Lt Governor Anil Baijal requesting him to also rename the Yamuna Sports Complex in Delhi after late Arun Jaitely.
