Marine Commando Amit Singh Rana Awarded Shaurya Chakra For Killing 3 Terrorists In J&K Operations

Indian Navy’s marine commando Amit Singh Rana is been awarded Shaurya Chakra for his key role in operation Jammu and Kashmir. The brave soldier was involved in 2 back to back operations, Op Danna and Op Shok Baba in which 8 foreign terrorist were eliminated. Six navy personnel have been awarded gallantry award and a Shaurya Chakra, in total the Army got eight Shaurya Chakra awards and 98 Sena medals.

Amit Singh Rana awarded for his bravery

On September 20 and 21, the Indian navy’s Rana was involved in Op Shok Baba with 14 other Rashtriya Rifles. In a search operation, the army acknowledged the presence of 6 terrorists in Shok Baba village. Before the unit decided to take countermeasures, terrorists in the village started firing with heavy caliber weapons and grenades, they remained guarded in a cowshed. Taking courage, Rana and his team planted an IED explosive device in the cowshed, which resulted in an explosion killing 3 terrorists at the spot.

“Rana was fired upon but came out unharmed. He was supported by close cover firing by his mate. The cowshed was blown up by the IED and three terrorists inside it were killed,” a source said.

Operation Shok Baba

Gallantry award winner Lt Cdr Ruchir Rakesh Khajuria was the officer-in-charge of the team which initiated ‘Operation Shok Baba’ which happened in the neutralization of five terrorists. He tactically directed his team to provide adequate fire on terrorists and also did not let them escape.

The awards cover two Kirti Chakras, one Vir Chakra, 14 Shaurya Chakras, eight Bar to Sena Medals (Gallantry), 90 Sena Medals (Gallantry), five Nao Sena Medals (Gallantry), seven Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry) and five Yudh Seva Medals.
