Ambati Rayudu was recently given unfair treatment by the BCCI. He was earlier named as a reserve batsman when the Chairman of Selectors MSK Prasad announces India’s 15-man squad for the World Cup. Dhawan’s and Vijay Shankar’s injury showed him hopes but the selection committee thought otherwise. Therefore, back to back disappointment has forced the batsman to retire from international cricket.
Ambati Rayudu was in a stand by
In the match against Australia, Shikar Dhawan was hit in his thumb which cost him out of the tournament. It was Rayudu who was next in line in case of replacement. However, he was ignored by BCCI as they chose Rishab Pant over him for an immediate replacement.
Giving a second hope, Vijay Shankar was also ruled out of the tournament due to toe niggle. An ideal choice for this replacement was clearly seen in Ambati Rayudu who was a perfect replacement for team India’s number four scare. But the selection committee did disappoint him again and went for Mayank Agarwal for injured Shankar.
BCCI ignored him
Initially, Ambati Rayudu was one of the front-runners to make it in the 15-member squad for the World Cup 2019 but Vijay Shankar was included instead. At the time, Ambati Rayudu had tweeted that he will be sitting at home watching the World Cup 2019 with his new 3-D glasses.
The 3-D reference was used after the selectors said that Shankar was chosen over Rayudu as he was a three-dimensional player and could add more variety to the side.
Just Ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the world cup ??..

He last played for India during the home series against Australia in March where he scored 33 runs in 3 ODI innings. Ambati Rayudu has played 55 ODIs, scoring 1694 runs at an average of 47.
