Virat Kohli Is All Set To Achieve Another Milestone – Tendulkar And Lara’s Record Under Threat

Virat Kohli is all set to achieve another milestone in his career. He Puts Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara’s Record Under Threat. The little master and Windies batsman achieved this record in 453 innings while former Australia captain Ricky Ponting took 468 innings to achieve the feat. The Indian skipper on this Saturday will have the chance to become the fastest to score 20,000 international runs in a match against Afghanistan.

Yet another record of Sachin under Threat

Last Sunday with the match against the arch-rival Pakistan, Virat Kohli crossed 11,000 runs in One Day International going past the Littel Master. Kohli achieved the feat in 222 innings and became the fastest player in the history to do so.

Whether big or small, the Indian captain has made it a habit of breaking Sachin’s batting records with ease. In the next match against Afganistan, Kohli has a chance to go past Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. With an opportunity to bag another world record, the World’s number 1 batsman is only 104 runs away from reaching the 20,000 international runs. If he gets that, then he will be the 12th batsman to this landmark and the 3rd Indian after Sachin Tendulkar (34,357 runs) and Rahul Dravid (24,208 runs).

Kohli has the opportunity to do so against Afganistan

It looks the record for the fastest to 20,000 international runs, doesn’t only belong to Sachin. He shares this record with the legendary West Indies batsman Brian Charles Lara. Both the legends had taken 453 innings to complete 20,000 international runs. The third on the list is former Australia World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting, who had taken 468 innings to get to the feat. Virat, on the other hand, has played only 415 innings so far – 131 in Tests, 222 in ODIs and 62 in T20Is. He will once again beat both Tendulkar and Lara by a comprehensive margin.

We have to wait and see whether he can do it against Afghanistan on Saturday, or the wait will be a bit longer. Kohli in this ongoing World Cup tournament has so far not scored a century in this World Cup, but he has been in fine form over the last couple of matches as he scored 2 half centuries against Australia (82) and Pakistan (77).
