Vijay Shankar’s injury a scare to the management

All-rounder Vijay Shankar is the latest to suffer an injury scare in the Indian camp after being hit on toe during a rain-hit training session on Wednesday. It all happened during a practicing session on Wednesday, Jasprit Bumrah yorker hit Shankar flush on his toes and he was apparently in pain. He is one of the nominated No 4 batsmen in this Indian line-up and team India does not want to lose him as well.

The team management said that there was nothing to be worried about and it was just a minor injury, “Yes, Vijay was in pain but it has subsided by the evening. Hopefully, there’s nothing scary,” sources said.

Series of Injury in the camp

Shankar just gave 15 runs, and took two important wickets including that of captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, in India’s 89-run victory over Pakistan on Sunday. With Shikhar Dhawan already ruled out of the tournament and Bhuvneshwar Kumar out for hamstring strain or 1 week, Shankar’s injury will give a huge scare to the Indian management.

Giving Bhuvi’s update the team management looks confident that Bhuvneshwar will be available during the last stage of the tournament. They said that is a left hamstring stiffness and not a tear for Bhuvneshwar. On the other hand, if it is a hamstring tear, there will be very less chance of a comeback for Bhuvneshwar in the World Cup.

In the worst case scenario, if Bhuvi has to be replaced, the team has Khaleel Ahmed in the standby who can be called in. On another option, the team could also go for the veteran bowler Ishant Sharma who also has a bit of experience in English conditions.
