Swami Ramdev, popularly known as Baba Ramdev, is a Hindu yogi who is popular worldwide for his teachings in Yoga. Besides being a yoga guru, Baba Ramdev is also a brand ambassador of a successful Ayurvedic Company Patanjali, that sells Ayurvedic medicinal and personal care product in India. However, as we all know, he has suggested us with some unique ideas and plans regarding the nation’s development; be it the tax policy, business development, ideas for, etc. However, this time it seems he has come up with a new strategy to reduce the country’s growing population.
Baba Ramdev’s Idea
Addressing a press conference in Haridwar on Sunday, Yoga guru Ramdev said that country’s population should not be allowed to exceed beyond 150 crores and this is only possible if the government takes away voting rights from the third-born in a family.
“India’s population should not be more than 150 crores in the next 50 years as we are not prepared or ready to bear more than that. This is only possible when the government makes a law that third child would not be allowed to vote, neither contest elections nor he/she enjoys any type of privileges and facilities given by the government,” Ramdev baba said.
“Then people will not give birth to more children, no matter which religion they belong to,” he added.
Ban Cow-slaughter
Baba Ramdev also demanded a full ban on cow-slaughter saying it was the only way to reduce the conflict between cow smugglers and vigilantes from Hindutva outfits.
“There should be a complete ban on cow slaughter and it is the only way out to end the conflict that we see between cow smugglers and ‘gau rakshak’. For those who want to eat meat, there are several other types of meat which they can eat,” he said.
Liquor Ban
Further, he also demanded a ban over liquor supply in India, he said: “In Islamic countries, liquor is banned. If in Islamic countries it can be banned then why not in India? This is the land of sages. There should be a complete ban on liquor in India.”
Let us see some of the public reactions from Baba Ramdev’s statement.
What on earth is #BabaRamdev smoking? He says the third child should not have voting rights. To control the population. And of course ban liquor. #Sanskar etc

Arey bhai, third child ki kya galti hai. Penalise the parents, not the child. https://t.co/dxu3SVce5H

It's not his/her mistake to be 3rd so why he/she should be punished? It's parents who should really get punishment… IF RULE IS MADE#BabaRamdev #MondayThoughts pic.twitter.com/YIjiFBx37U

#BabaRamdev is absolutely correct that we cannot afford a population of more than 150 cr in coming 50 years. Obviously, the upcoming @narendramodi govt needs to look into this. However, the law suggested by him is debatable and I guess should be replaced. #MondayMotivation

Excellent practical suggestion from #BabaRamdev to curtail future demographic imbalance and vote bank politics. Hope @narendramodi @PMOIndia will implement it soon?
