Last Sunday we all witnessed an Epic battle between the two best sides in the tournament, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. It was Mumbai Indians in the end who played a perfect cricket to clinch a record fourth IPL title.
Replying to the MI’s total, Shane Watson showed brilliance with his bat as he managed to score 80 runs from 59 balls. However, he was badly injured while he was playing but in spite of that Watson continued batting hoping to take his side to the finish line.
CSK did well with the ball to limit MI for just 149 for 8 in the big night but top-class spells from Rahul Chahar (14 for 1) and Jasprit Bumrah (14 for 2) helped MI pull things back despite conceding 53 runs in the powerplay. On the other hand, against the injury in his left knee, Watson was on fire in the finals and almost pulled off the chase single-handedly.
When Cricket is More than just a game
Later Harbhajan Singh revealed how Australian all-rounder batted through pain and a bleeding knee during the finals against Mumbai Indians in Hyderabad. He said that Watson had to go through 6 stitches after the game.
Harbhajan wrote on his Instagram story and said “Can you guys see the blood on his knee. He got 6 stitches after the game. Got injured while diving but continue to bat without telling anyone.”
Fans all around the world took this to Twitter and praised Watson for his commitment
