Lok Sabha elections are on its full swing and every citizen in India is voting for the nation. Each and every citizen’s vote is making the future of the country. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged people to cast their votes as it’s their duty. Additionally, he had also asked various celebrities like Virat Kohli to inspire other Indians to use their voting power. However, there is a doubt that Virat Kohli himself would be able to vote for the Lok Sabha Elections or not.

The whole story

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 13th March asked Indian Cricket team’s players like Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, and Rohit Sharma to inspire all the Indians around the country to vote. In a tweet he said:

“Dear @msdhoni, @imVkohli, and @ImRo45, You are always setting outstanding records on the cricketing field but this time, to inspire the 130 crore people of India to set a new record of high voter turnout in the upcoming elections. When this happens, democracy will be the winner!”

Now, the Indian captain Virat Kohli who is basically from Delhi and now lives in Mumbai with his wife Anushka Sharma wanted to cast his vote from Mumbai itself. Therefore, it seems the Indian skipper has missed the deadline to fill the application online as the last date was March 30, 2019. Therefore, sources say that the Election commission had received the application of Virat Kohli which was kept pending as they have missed the deadline. Therefore, he won’t be able to vote in the current Lok Sabha election. Hence, his vote will be considered for the next elections.

Update from the story

But, there was an update made by Virat Kohli himself on Instagram where he displayed his voter ID from Gurugram. The ID showed in his profile revealed details such as his father’s name and address of his house in Gurugram. This picture had a caption clearing all doubts as to its states that he would vote in Gurugram on 12th May.

Virat wrote in the caption, “Ready to vote in Gurugram on the 12th May, are you?” Hence, Virat Kohli deleted the story lately, perhaps due to his personal information coming out in the public domain. Soon after a while, Virat Kohli posted the front of his voter ID but this time blurred the ID No. in his post.
