The Reserve Bank of India recently issued a new Rs.50 currency note in the series of Mahatma Gandhi. The parameters used in this new version of Rs.50 note are a bit different from the old Rs.50 note.
Parameters For New Rs.50 Currency Note
The new Rs.50 currency note will carry the signature of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.
According to a statement released by RBI, “The Reserve Bank of India will today issue Rs 50 denomination Banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series bearing the signature of Shri Shaktikanta Das, Governor. The design of these notes is similar in all respects to Rs 50 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series. All banknotes in the denomination of Rs 50 issued by the Reserve Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.”
The statement confirms that the existing Rs.50 currency note will continue to be legal tender. However, RBI has now stopped printing the old-design currency bills that carry the signature of former Governor of RBI Urjit Patel. Both the old and new currency notes will have similar features. RBI issued an Rs.50 currency note in Fluorescent blue color in August last year.
