Ordinarily, people would associate plastic surgery with women, with actresses and singers sculpting their bodies and faces to become more beautiful than ever. But a surprising number of Hollywood’s male stars have also had cosmetic surgery procedures to sculpt their looks, fix pre-existing problems or for serious health conditions. Here’s a list of five male celebrities who have had cosmetic surgery, and look even better because of it.
Ryan Gosling
One of Hollywood’s major heartthrobs, this Academy-Award nominated actor had a rhinoplasty (nose job) early on in his career. Gosling broke his nose as a teenager, which gave it a misshapen appearance. Though Gosling has not spoken a lot about the surgery, the results have been clear since his appearance at the premiere of Drive in 2011. Though the surgery was minimal, it changed the hook shape of Gosling’s nose as well as redefining his nostrils and creating a more aligned central bone.
Patrick Dempsey
Another Hollywood heartthrob, he’s best known for his career-defining role as Dr. McDreamy in Grey’s Anatomy. Patrick had a nose job to correct a deviated septum when he was in his early twenties. The surgery not only corrected the issue, but it straightened his nose and gave his face a new shape. This is a little known fact about the television actor, as the surgery happened before he became famous.
John Travolta
The actor may have had his renaissance in the 1970s and 1980s, but John Travolta is still going strong, even if his films aren’t as successful as he once was. Travolta had a highly publicized hair transplant to combat a receding hairline, revealed in a fan photo use this link to know more about hair transplant surgery. Many have also speculated that the actor has used fillers and Botox, as well as potentially having a facelift to take years off of his face and make him look younger.
Christian Bale
Academy-Award winning method actor Christian Bale has admitted to having a less popular surgery in his youth that involved the reconstruction and capping off his teeth. After starting his career young, Bale had corrective cosmetic surgery on his teeth in order to appear ‘more American’, opening him up to a wider variety of acting roles. He wanted to not only straighten his teeth but believed that if he looked more like someone from the USA, he’d have a better chance of getting hired.
Tom Cruise
This celebrated action movie star reportedly had a nose job done at the genesis of his career to correct a slightly wonky nose. Just before his big breakout role in 1983’s ‘Risky Business’, Cruise underwent rhinoplasty surgery to reshape his nose, reducing its hook-like shape to create a more sculpted face. More recently, Cruise has been at the center of speculation regarding his use of Botox and fillers to smooth out his skin, particularly around his forehead, chin, and eye areas.
